They might not actually play guitar, but they sure make it look convincing. If you've ever seen the absolutely hilarious 2006 documentary film "Air Guitar Nation," you know for sure there are people out there with just way too much time on their hands.
The film, and this weekend's U.S. Air Guitar Championship Mid-Atlantic Semifinal meet in Washington, D.C., is even further proof there are people who take playing air guitar to ridiculous levels of virtuosity. And we really do mean ridiculous. Not to mention virtuosity.

The U.S. Air Guitar Championship Mid-Atlantic Semifinals take place Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Nightclub 9:30, 815 V St., NW, Washington, D.C. Doors open at 8:30 and tickets are $20.
The national championships take place August 9th in Kansas City. If you want to enter next year, you'll have plenty of opportunity: qualifying tournaments took place in 19 U.S. cities in 2014, and in many more locales worldwide. The 2014 Air Guitar World Championship -- the 19th annual event -- takes place August 23-30 in Oulu, Northern Finland.
