August 20, 2014: I Might be Movin’ to Montana soon: Dweezil Zappa is following father Frank’s advice at long last and movin’ to Montana. Not to be a dental floss tycoon, however. Zappa is joining with jazz guitar legends Mike Stern and Lee Ritenour, blues guitarist Ana Popovic, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Oates, classical guitarist David Leisner, and singer/songwriters Shelby Lynne and Emily Elbert as artists in residence at the 5th Annual Crown of the Continent Guitar Workshop & Festival.
Crown of the Continent begins this weekend and runs August 24 through 31 in Bigfork, Montana, where Flathead Lake begins, and within a stones throw of the long-celebrated pygmy pony roundup and gluten-free chili cook-off. While you can certainly get up close and personal with Zappa, Stern, et al, other guitar workshops of note will feature Dennis McCumber, Matt Smith, James Hogan, and a bunch of other highly inspirational instructors.
Crown of the Continent might just win the award for prettiest locale ever for a guitar fest and workshop. Reminder: When you’re packing for this one, don’t forget your Zircon-encrusted tweezers.
