Los Angeles, CA — September 2011 - Alfred Music Publishing, the world leader in educational print music publishing since 1922, is proud to announce the release of This Holy Night: 12 Christmas Classics for Guitar, a collection of holiday favorites arranged for intermediate-level classical and fingerstyle acoustic guitarists.
Perfect for recitals, Christmas celebrations, or just for the fun, This Holy Night: 12 Christmas Classics for Guitar contains the holiday classics “Away in a Manger,” The First Noel,” It Came Upon the Midnight Clear,” O Holy Night,” “Silent Night,” “What Child is This?” among others. Arrangements are written in standard notation and TAB, making them approachable by any intermediate-level fingerstyle or classical guitarist. A full-length recorded CD with all the songs found in the book is included. Additionally, playback of the CD on a computer features Alfred’s exclusive TNT software that allows the user to slow tracks down, isolate and loop specific sections, and change keys.
A foreword by Thomas Kikta (author, editor, and Director of Classical Guitar at Duquesne University) is also included, revealing the approach of arranger Vincent J. Carrola. As a student of Kikta’s, Carrola started playing guitar at the age of three, showing a strong desire to play the guitar and for understanding all aspects involved, including composition. By the time Carrola was 16 years old, he arranged and recorded all the songs contained in This Holy Night: 12 Christmas Classics for Guitar.
As part of Alfred’s ongoing commitment to improving the environment, this songbook is printed on 100% recycled paper.
This Holy Night: 12 Christmas Classics for Guitar Book & CD (00-37762) is now available for $16.99 at music retail stores and at alfred.com/guitar.
