Pete Townshend (1944-) is an English rock musician, songwriter, singer, and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known for his work as the lead guitarist, songwriter, and occasional vocalist for The Who, and has released solo albums on the label UMe. Key albums include Who's Next (1971), Empty Glass (1980), White City (1985), and Psychoderelict (1993). His latest album, All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes (1982), won a Grammy Award.
