Although Steel Panther may be flippantly tongue-in-cheek, the Charvel Satchel Signature Pro-Mod DK is anything but. The new signature axe for the band’s guitarist, Russ “Satchel” Parrish, is a performance instrument that looks and sounds like it belongs in the heyday of Sunset Strip glam metal.
In fact, the guitar’s fluorescent tiger-striped finish is the first thing you’ll notice about it. But the components under its alder, Dinky-shaped body are just as striking. Two Fishman Fluence Classic Humbuckers are the engines that drive this hot-rodded instrument, and they each have two voices—vintage and modern, essentially—that can be activated via a push-pull switch on the guitar’s single volume knob.
A two-piece, graphite-reinforced maple neck and fretboard, jumbo frets, as well as a Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo system round off the guitar’s other major features.
The Satchel Pro Mod DK Yellow Bengal lists for $1,944. For more information, check out charvel.com.
