You might not have considered visiting Gardiner Houlgate’s guitar auction in Corsham this month, and here’s where we come in to change your mind. Taking place on 11 and 12 September, this month’s catalogue is packed to the rafters with exquisite electrics and beautiful acoustics.

Out of the plethora of great vintage instruments on offer we picked out three of our favourite pieces and put a demo track together to show off some killer vintage tones. The instruments (in order of appearance) are a 1962 Martin D-28, a 1971 Fender Precision Bass in Olympic White with a tortoise shell pickguard and a 1963 Gibson ES-335 in Cherry Red. All three have seen plenty of action and a few modifications but we’re sure you’ll agree, still sound incredible.

Alongside the trio featured in the video above the forthcoming auction also includes some stand out instruments including a 1966 Fender Jaguar in Candy Apple Red with matching headstock, a 1983 Gibson Flying V Korina reissue and a 1978 Gretsch TK-300 model 7624 in Cherry Red.
