In episode four of My Guitar Story, the revered Josh Smith details the process behind his recent collaboration with Ibanez guitars, which was developed over two years.

Inspired by his beloved Chapin T-Style, Ibanez approached Smith when they launched their AZ line of guitars. “It wasn’t the Ibanez that I was prejudiced to growing up, it was a high-quality guitar with a great roasted maple neck and great feel.”

Following that initial introduction, Ibanez revealed they’d planned to create a more Telecaster-inspired guitar and wanted Smith to be involved, culminating in a signature model. “It was a really rewarding process going over this guitar with them,” he reveals. “There’s nothing on this guitar that wasn’t carefully thought out and measured.”

In this video, he discusses the specifications of the Flat V1 and why their both unique to his playing style and equally Ibanez guitars. This is Josh Smith’s guitar story.
