With the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Albert King and Michael Schenker all having owned one, it’s no wonder that the Gibson Flying V has attained iconic status in music history. To the cheers of guitar geeks worldwide, Gibson has launched an updated—and eye-catching—version of the six-string.
The Modern Flying V boasts a host of features that makes it both sound and look great. For starters, the guitar has a solid mahogany body with a contoured top, and is available in three colorways: Ebony, Silver and the blinged-out Gold Prism. The Apex-style carved headstock and color-matching hardware are also defining appointments of the guitar, and are responsible for its Space Age-inspired design.
Other specs of the Modern Flying V include a Richlite fretboard, Gibson 496R and 500T pickups, 22 medium-jumbo frets, a 24.75-inch scale length, pearloid inlays, and a plated brass pickguard. And as a kicker, each guitar comes with a custom-fit rectangular hardshell case.
The Modern Flying V lists for $4,499. For more information, check out Gibson.com.
