Every month, we compile a list of announcements, releases, and rumours from amp and speaker makers big and small. Here are our favourites from the past month.
Synergy Friedman BE-BB
Synergy recently added three new models to its preamp module line-up. Featured here is the Friedman BE-BB (above), which as you might have guessed, was designed by Dave Friedman himself. It combines two popular amps, the BE-100 (BE) and Buxom Beauty (BB), providing both vintage and modern tones.
Klevgrand Stark Amp Simulator
Swedish company Klevgrand has unveiled an expansive amp simulator available as a plug-in for PC and Mac, or an app for iPad. It features four modules, intuitively named Amplifier, Cabinet, Room and Pedalboard. All of them process audio independently, so combining various simulator types isn’t an issue.
Tone King Ironman II
The Ironman II is a 100-W reactive power attenuator that builds on its dinky sibling, the Ironman II mini. While the older version only provided an 8-ohm operation, the Ironman II adds 4- and 16- ohms as well as separate impedance controls for speakers and amplifiers. It also provides 18 attenuation settings across three modes: Solo, Lo and Hi.
