Three new electric and bass amplifiers: April 2019

Our favourite new amp and speaker announcements, releases and rumours of the past month.

Every month, we compile a list of announcements, releases, and rumours from amp and speaker makers big and small. Here are our favourites from the past month.

1IK Multimedia iRig Micro Amp

IK Multimedia iRig Micro Amp feature

IK Multimedia’s describing their new amp as a “pint-sized powerhouse”. It’s a compact, 15-watt, battery-operated unit with three analogue channels and an integrated iOS and USB interface. It gives you access to the brand’s AmpliTube software, which in turn provides a smorgasbord of processing options. It’s ideal for bedroom practice or a small studio jam.

2Nux Mighty 20 BT

Nux Mighty 20 BT feature

Yet another amp for the bedroom, the Nux Mighty 20 BT provides Bluetooth connectivity on top of an array of amplifier emulations and built-in effects. The latter consists of modulation, reverb and delay effect types, and up to three of them – one from each type – can be engaged simultaneously. On the Bluetooth front, the amp can be adjusted remotely through an app. That means you can toggle between channels, switch effects and more, without even getting out of bed.

3Fender Mustang LT25

Fender Mustang LT25

An entrant to the Mustang line, this is an entry-level amp built for students. For $150, you get a 25-watt combo with an eight-inch speaker and a ton of sonic options. The latter includes 20 amp emulations, 25 effects and 50 tone presets, all accessible via an easy-to-use UI with a 1.8-inch screen. It also has a handy USB port for firmware updates or seamless connection to a DAW of your choosing.
