Adventure Audio has released the Glacial Zenith II, a pedal that caters to the tone-chasing guitarist who enjoys overdrive at its most customizable.

A follow-up to the original Glacial Zenith, V2 boasts an impressive trio of drive, EQ and boost capabilities. It places overdrive at the center, with the ability to route the EQ pre- or post-drive, and the boost before or after everything else. So you can use the boost to amplify your output volume, or to ‘slam’ into the drive.

The EQ, on the other hand, can be deployed to shape the drive’s texture (pre-drive) or its distortion level (post-drive). There’s also a “Shape” toggle to change the drive’s clipping mode—from “crystalline snowflakes” to “fine powder,” Adventure Audio described.

Additionally, the Glacial Zenith II sports six knobs: a three-band EQ, as well as “Boost,” “Volume” and “Gain.”

The brand also offers four suggested presets:

  • “Global Warming”: By flicking all three switches to the left and maxing the “Boost” and “Volume” knobs, this setting unleashes scorching overdrive tones.
  • “Mini Fridge”: All switches are toggled to the right and the “High” dial is dimed. This configuration produces ice-cool crunchy, leads.
  • “Snowed in”: Produce this warm lead tone by toggling the “Shape” switch to the left and dialing the “Low” knob to 4 o’clock.
  • “Hypothermia”: Feel the chills with this biting drive by toggling all switches to the right, dialing down “Mid” and maxing out “Low.”

Pre-orders at $189 or $219 (with Soft Switch). More information at adventurepedals.com.
