Big Joe Stomp Box has launched two new pedals, and it’s good news for fuzz aficionados. Both Freakshow Fuzz pedals come in either germanium or silicon transistor configurations, so whether you’re looking for warm, fat tones or something more modern, they’ve got you covered.

Both pedals feature your standard “Tone,” “Fuzz” and “Output” knobs, but also offer “Bias” and “Trim” controls. The latter two open up the tonal textures of the pedals by offering latitude in clipping, gain structure and symmetry. There’s also a “Buffer” switch that can be activated to eliminate high-end roll-off when the pedal is placed after other effects.

Fans of the vintage sound will, of course, gravitate towards the Freakshow Germanium Fuzz, which has ’60s NOS matched transistors. It’ll give you all the rich, fat creamy fuzz tones that you desire. Listen to it here:

The Silicon version on the other hand, is modern-sounding and has more gain. If you’re playing more aggressive styles of rock, this ought to suit you better. Check it out in action here:

The Freakshow Germanium Fuzz and Silicon Fuzz list for $189.95 and $149.95, respectively, and will be available on Halloween. More information at bigjoestompbox.com.
