After years of fiddling with a capo, Billy Corgan dreamt up a guitar that can be tuned high while retaining normal string tension. He approached Reverend, the company responsible for his existing signature models, and the result is the Billy Corgan Terz.

The six-string is a hybrid of many things. It takes its name and design from the classical Terz guitar, which is built to be tuned up a minor third, but is fully electric—the first instrument of its kind in the world. And while its 21.5-inch scale gives the Smashing Pumpkins frontman room for the unusual tuning, the rest of the instrument is pretty identical to his original signature model. This new guitar also comes with a chambered Korina body, segmented aluminum pickguards and a Railhammer Billy Corgan pickup, which marries the clarity of a P-90 with the low noise of a humbucker.

A roasted maple neck, string-through-body bridge, as well as Reverend’s standard-issue Boneite nut and locking tuners round off the model’s features.

The Billy Corgan Terz is available in Satin Pearl White and Deep Sea Blue Burst.
