Boss has unveiled the latest model from its flagship Katana amp series: the Katana-Artist. It boasts five digitally modeled amps and a bevy of onboard effects that can be stored in eight presets, accessible through a footswitch or the front panel.

The 100-watt amplifier features a new cabinet design and a Waza 12-inch speaker. Unlike its open-back predecessors, this amp sports a semi-closed back design, which adds low-end punch to your sound.

The Katana-Artist shares similarities with its predecessors in terms of controls and effects: Five amp characters are available—Brown, Lead, Crunch, Clean and Acoustic—and up to 58 Boss effects can be stored in eight onboard memories and organized via Boss’s Tone Studio app.

This Katana model also comes with more tone-shaping capabilities than its siblings in the range. The “Cabinet Resonance” control, which determine how the power amp reacts with the speakers, lets you choose between Vintage, Modern and Deep voicings. On top of that, the “Air Feel” function lets layer your sound with the vibes of a studio, a live set-up, or a mix of the two.

The Katana Artist lists for GBP529. For more information, check out boss.info.
