Fishman’s Fluence Open Core Classic humbuckers were first seen at Winter NAMM 2018, but little was known about how they actually sound. A few days back, however, the brand dropped a short video demo of the pickups—which you can watch right here:

The Open Core Classic humbuckers are the latest addition to Fishman’s Fluence line, and draws inspiration from the Fluence Classic Pickups. There are, however, a few big differences. Fishman added a third voice to the humbuckers, formats for seven- and eight-stringed guitars, and cosmetic features in the form of four new finishes and the namesake ‘open core’ aesthetics—which simply means the pickup covers have been popped off.

In addition to the vintage PAF and hot-rodded voices, the third voice replicates the transparent, glassy tones of a traditional single-coil. Unlike regular coil-split humbuckers, the Fluence Open Core employs Fishman’s propriety technology to produce authentic single-coil tones, the company said.

The pickups retail for $129.95 for a single and $249.95 for a set of two. For more information, check out fishman.com.
