Strandberg and Desert Son Musical Instruments have come together to unveil the USA Select, a new line of custom headless guitars. Unlike Strandberg’s Made to Measure series, this line is built in the US by Desert Son and is pegged at a more affordable price tag.

Rather than give customers an endless list of options to choose from, Strandberg has decided to “focus on the essentials that we believe will satisfy over 95% of the players who want to order a Strandberg custom guitar at a more reasonable cost.”

That isn’t to say your options are barren. Tonewood-wise, pick between: alder, basswood or swamp ash for the body; flame maple, quilted maple or poplar burl for the top; and roasted birdseye maple, pau ferro or ebony for the fretboard. Then choose one of 16 finishes—in satin or gloss—to complete your guitar’s good looks.

For the pickups, Strandberg has also released its brand-new MFB passive pickups, which are one of the choices alongside Fishman actives and Suhr passives. You can choose for them to come as a pair of humbuckers, humbucker-single-single, or humbucker-single-humbucker. Even the position of the knobs can be shifted around to a position that’s comfortable for you. And the USA Select instruments come in six-, seven- and eight-string formats.
