NAMM 2020: D’Angelico has announced a USA Custom Shop, run by the renowned luthier and frequent collaborator Gene Baker. This is the first time the brand will offer bespoke instruments to customers.

All the Custom Shop guitars will be hand-made, finished and set up in California. D’Angelico is launching with six base models – Bedford, Atlantic, Brighton, Ludlow as well as the semi-hollow DC and SS – and a suite of tonewoods, hardware, pickups and finishes to pick from.

Among the more noteworthy are zebrawood tops, Fralin Modern PAFs and ebony knobs, while finishes include Lemon Burst, Walnut Stain and Faded Tea Burst. Prices begin at $3,999.

In tandem with this announcement, D’Angelico has revealed the ultra-limited Deluxe Bedford SH as a taste of what to expect. This is a premium, semi-hollow version of the Bedford – and only 100 instruments in two finishes will be built. Check it out in closer detail in our video below:

Besides the Deluxe Bedford SH, the brand also released fresh Mini DC models, the 1930s-inspired Excel Throwback collection, and a new signature guitar for Bob Weir.
