Death by Audio has unveiled a successor to its popular Waveformer Destroyer pedal, which presents a few intuitive upgrades. The MK2 stompbox delivers the same 2,048 distortion settings, but now comes with eight convenient and clearly labeled rocker switches. It’s a handy improvement from the original’s internal DIP switches.

The MK2 excels at distorting the tone of everything from guitars to synths, and even drums, but a word of warning: This isn’t the easiest device to use.

The rest of the pedal’s controls remain as they were on its predecessor. It has four footswitches—“Boost,” “Blast,” “Engage” and “Filter”—and a knob to manage the master volume.

Only 50 of these intricately handmade stompboxes are available, so if you want to get your hands on one, you best get cracking.
