DiMarzio unveils the Richie Kotzen Strat Replacement Pickguard
Featuring pickups from Kotzen’s signature Stratocaster models.
DiMarzio has revealed the Richie Kotzen Strat Replacement Pickguard, a pearl white embellishment complete with a set of signature pickups.
The electronics on the pickguard are modeled after the specifications of those found on two signature Stratocasters that Fender Japan designed for Kotzen back in 1996: three Alnico V single-coils, wired to a five-way switch. Additionally, the center pickup has a reverse-wound magnet.
When it comes to sound, these pickups deliver an articulate medium gain—individual notes can be heard even when distorted. Tone-wise, the setup is punchy, percussive and cuts through with a Stratocaster’s classic transparency and brightness.
