The Emissary is a two-in-one boost pedal in a compact, high quality enclosure that’s designed to make leads stand out, slides sing, fingerpicking come to life and to push tube amps into great natural breakup. The Emissary has two independent boost circuits that run in parallel, working together to help make your tone a ‘sinus-clearing experience’, as Walrus rather amusingly suggests!

Deceptively simple, the Emissary has just two knobs and a toggle switch. The top knob controls the volume for the ‘bright’ boost circuit – a clean, high-headroom JFET boost, with a slight emphasis on higher frequencies to liven up your tone. The bottom knob controls the volume for the ‘mid’ boost circuit, which features a targeted boost at either 1kHz or 800Hz selected by the toggle switch. You can use the two boosts on their own, or mix them together at your leisure, simply by turning up each knob to the desired level. Cleverly, the bypass footswitch features a momentary function, so you can press and hold to activate the pedal, only for it to disengage as soon as you release the switch.

We reviewed the Emissary in our October 2018 issue and were impressed with the functionality contained within such a simple layout noting that, “It’s surprising just how much ground you can cover with such minimal controls… the Oklahomans certainly know their stuff when it comes to ingenious pedal design.” To find out more about the Emissary Parallel Boost or other Walrus Audio pedals, visit www.walrusaudio.com, and to be in with a chance of winning one for yourself, simply head to the link below and answer the following question:
