Epiphone launches Ltd Etd Slash Firebird

A hundred of these are hand-signed and numbered by the Guns N’ Roses man himself.

After a recent collaboration with Peter Frampton, Epiphone has unveiled yet another limited-edition signature guitar. This time, it’s the Ltd Etd Slash Firebird.

The guitar sports an AAA flame maple top on a three-piece mahogany body, whose Translucent Black finish was picked by the man in the top hat himself. The iconic Firebird pickguard sits prominently on the axe, but this one features Slash’s “Skull & Top Hat” logo. The mahogany neck comes in a custom profile, too, which is rounded but slim enough for searing fretwork. A pau ferro fingerboard with trapezoid pearl inlays completes the cosmetic concerns on the axe.

At the heart of this Firebird’s tone is a pair of Seymour Duncan “Slash” open-coil humbuckers. They’re overwound for more punchiness and a hotter output, and they each have individual “Volume” and “Tone” controls.

In terms of hardware, the Ltd Etd Slash Firebird features the classic Epiphone LockTone ABR Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, as well as Kluson reissue Firebird banjo-style machine heads.

Just like Frampton’s limited-edition release, this one is also available on its own—limited to 900 guitars—or as a “Premium Outfit,” which includes a hand-signed guitar, a custom leather strap and a hard case. The latter is limited to 100 instruments.

The guitar-only package is available for pre-order at $899. Stay tuned for the Premium Outfit pricing. More information at epiphone.com.
