Eric Johnson has proven himself to be inventive not only in his craft but also in making guitars. In collaboration with Fender, the Grammy Award winner has co-designed his third signature guitar for the brand: the Eric Johnson Signature Stratocaster Thinline.

The model, which was developed over the course of two years, is the first-ever Fender axe to come with a custom-chambered semi-hollow body as well as traditional Strat arm and body contours. Unique to Johnson’s signature pieces are three single-coil pickups voiced to his preferences, and a ’rounder’ “V” neck profile that the company claims enhances playability. And, like the guitarist’s other two Fender signatures, this one has a two-piece alder body.

“With this third signature model it was important to me that we create something new that could widen horizons and pull in different styles of music,” the “Cliffs of Dover” guitarist explained. “I’ve always loved semi-hollow body guitars. There’s a certain resonance you get out of an acoustic guitar, and I was curious if combining that with a Strat would add another dimension.”

This guitar is available in two finishes: Vintage White and Two-color Sunburst.

The Eric Johnson Signature Stratocaster Thinline lists for $1,999. For more information, check out fender.com.
