Guitar hero Marty Friedman recently took the stage at Singapore’s The Star Vista to lead our very first international masterclass. The audience was all smiles watching the veteran sink into his element, ripping through a few of his classics before kicking back with a very candid Q&A session.

Friedman wasted no time wowing the packed out venue, picking up his Jackson MF-1 signature guitar the moment he got on stage and diving right into a succession of hits from his One Bad M.F. Live! record.

In-between songs, Friedman took a couple of minutes to discuss the many techniques he employs, as well as the tricks he’s picked up over the span of his 30-year career. The most insightful piece of advice he had for aspiring musicians? “Don’t just play music in a room by yourself! Playing with others will make you a better artist.”
