NAMM 2020: EVH erupts with a new Frankie guitar, expanded Wolfgang Series and more

A new 50-watt 5150III has also been announced.

NAMM 2020: EVH has revealed a new release for 2020, comprising a brand-new Frankie guitar, an expanded Wolfgang collection and a new 50-watt 5150III amp and cabinet set.

Striped Series Frankie

The budget-friendly Striped Series Frankie (pictured above) is billed as a more affordable version of the original Frankenstein guitar wielded by Eddie Van Halen. The basswood Strat-style body bears many of Eddie’s favourite appointments, such as the iconic striped finish, EVH-branded Floyd Rose locking tremolo, Floyd Rose locking nut and EVH D-Tuna.

The guitar also features an HSS pickup configuration like the original, and carries an EVH Wolfgang humbucker in the bridge, a dummy single coil in the neck and a dummy five-way selector switch in the middle. Accompanying the pickups is a graphite-reinforced quartersawn maple neck and a matching 12”-16” compound radius maple fingerboard.

Featuring a ‘comfort cut’ forearm contour and a 12”-16” compound radius fingerboard with rolled edges, the WG Standard is built for comfort. It also features direct-mounted Wolfgang humbuckers for better string vibration transfer. The bolt-on maple neck has been reinforced with graphite to help prevent the onset of neck warp. The Wolfgang WG Standard is available in the following colours: Cream White, Gloss Black, Matte Army Drab, Neon Orange, Quicksilver, Slime Green and Taxi Cab Yellow.

Wolfgang WG Standard Quilt Maple

This iteration of the WG Standard tacks a quilt maple top on the basswood body and includes a masked-off natural body binding for an elegant look. The guitar retains its focus on playability and speed, as evidenced by the ‘comfort cut’ forearm contour, 12”-16” compound radius fingerboard and 22jumbo frets. The Wolfgang WG Standard Quilt Maple is available in the following colours: Black Fade, Chlorine Burst, Northern Lights, Tahiti Night and Transparent Amber.

Wolfgang Special, Ebony Fingerboard

A graphite-reinforced quartersawn bolt-on maple neck, carved and rolled to Eddie’s exact specifications, complements the body. Other features include an EVH-branded Floyd Rose locking tremolo, Floyd Rose locking nut and EVH D-Tuna. The Wolfgang Special, Ebony Fingerboard is available in the following colours: Ice Blue Metallic, Deep Purple Metallic and Burgundy Mist Metallic.

Adding a spalted maple top to its basswood body gives the WG Standard Exotic Spalted Maple an undeniable appeal. The guitar’s looks are accentuated by a masked-off natural body binding and an oiled finish on the back of the maple neck. Comfort and playability are provided by the ‘comfort cut’ forearm contour and the compound radius fingerboard, while the EVH-branded Floyd Rose Special bridge and R2 locking nut help keep the WG Stand Exotic Spalted Maple consistently in tune.

5150III 50S

EVH 5150III Head + CabThe all-new 5150III 50S has been distilled into a more portable 50-watt format while retaining its versatile three-channel setup.
