Following the release of the striking Jaguar-Strat hybrid, Fender has added yet another model to its Parallel Universe series: the Meteora. With an offset body and Custom Shop Tele pickups, this unique creation fits right into Fender’s new hybrid line.
The Meteora sports an ash body coated in a classic nitrocellulose lacquer and Butterscotch Blond finish. It boasts a vintage ’60s “C” maple neck and a 9.5-inch-radius maple fingerboard adorned with stylish black block inlays.
Not only is the Meteora visually arresting, it also packs a distinct punch in terms of tone. There’s a vintage-style Tele pup at the bridge and a Twisted Tele pickup at the neck; both are wound for hotter outputs. Its controls include a master volume knob, a master tone knob, and a three-way blade switch.
In terms of hardware, the axe features an American Professional Tele bridge with compensated brass saddles, a limited-edition micro-tilt neck plate, as well as chrome dome knobs.
To promote the strange new model, Fender held another blindfold challenge. This time, Jim Root of Slipknot and Stone Sour, who loves his signature Teles, took the hot seat. Check it out here:
