Fender has announced a limited-edition American Professional line comprising lightweight ash-bodied Telecaster, Stratocaster and Jazz Bass models.

The tonewood is touted to make these guitars lighter than the originals, although Fender has left out the instruments’ actual weight on the product pages. All three models have also received limited-edition aesthetic tweaks, detailed below:

  • Stratocaster:
    • Antique Natural finish
    • Tortoiseshell pickguard
  • Jazz Bass:
    • Sienna Sunburst finish
    • Aged White Pearl pickguard
    • Aged White Pickup covers
    • American Elite knobs
  • Telecaster:
    • Honey Blonde finish
    • Parchment pickguard

There’s an additional modification to the Telecaster: a modern C-to-D neck profile, which is a departure from the original model’s deep-C neck shape.

Otherwise, most features across the three instruments have been retained. These include Tim Shaw-designed V-Mod single-coils – specific to the Strat and Tele – as well as two Michael Bump-designed V-Mod single-coils loaded onto the Jazz Bass.

The Jazz Bass retails at $1,849.99 while the Stratocaster and Telecaster retail at $1,749.99 each. More info at fender.com.
