Summer NAMM 2019 Video: Fender announces Vintera Series of affordable, made-in-Mexico guitars and basses
The new range replaces the popular Classic Series and includes 20 new and updated models.
Fender has announced the Vintera Series, a new-for-2019 collection of vintage-inspired guitars and basses that includes models from the 1950s, 60s and 70s, channelling the brand’s golden era.
Replacing the previous made-in-Mexico Classic Series, the Vintera line-up features new era-correct pickups and electronics designed by Fender’s in-house pickup guru Tim Shaw, classic colours and period-correct neck profiles, all at an affordable price point.
Justin Norvell, EVP of Product at Fender, had this to say about the new range:
“The Vintera series celebrates the different vintage eras of Fender with the fundamental design of the Stratocaster, Telecaster and Precision Bass remaining largely the same, but with each decade assuming its own unique feature sets.
“Depending on your feature preferences, bands you love and the era that you grew up in, each of these decades has a different appeal in terms of sound, colours and pickups.”
Fans of Fender’s original custom colours will be delighted to see the likes of Fiesta Red, Seafoam Green, Inca Silver, Mocha, Burgundy Mist and Ice Blue Metallic in the Vintera line. Alongside each decade-correct model, Fender also offers a ‘Modified’ counterpart, complete with more contemporary, player-friendly features.
Popular recent models such as the Baja Telecaster and Classic Player Jazzmaster return here as the Vintera ’50s Telecaster Modified and Vintera ’60s Jazzmaster Modified. Road Worn models with nitrocellulose finishes don’t feature, but watch this space for limited runs further down the line.
