Amptweaker has collaborated with bassist Tim Lefebvre on the new limited-edition Lefebvre TightFuzz.

The Lefebvre TightFuzz is based on the Amptweaker Bass TightFuzz’s germanium transistor-based circuitry, but has been tweaked to give the user access to Lefebvre’s favourite fuzz tone. Having all the knobs at 12 o’clock recreates Lefebvre’s ‘always on’ setting, and users can manipulate the onboard controls to tailor the Lefebvre TightFuzz’s tone to their liking.

The Volume and Tone control work as they should, with the latter being great for producing small tube amp-like tones. The Tight control is also handy when it comes to minimising the flabbiness that is common with fuzz-type effects.

The Fuzz control comes with an auto bias feature that makes it easy to produce low-gain tones, while the Dry Low knob gives users the ability to blend in a dry signal to make up for the typical loss of low end common with distortion effects.

Other features of the Amptweaker Lefebvre TightFuzz include the presence of an effects loop with a Pre/Post switch, as well as special input circuitry to accommodate bass guitars with active pickups. LED-illuminated knobs and a magnetic battery access compartment provide a valuable amount of user-friendliness, and a battery disconnect switch conserves power without having to unplug from the input jack.

The Amptweaker Lefebvre TightFuzz is now available for $250. For more information, click here.
