Bernie Marsden has lovingly curated his stunning guitar collection in a new book: Tales Of Tone And Volume.

The 384-page tome is a result of a two-year-long endeavour to photograph the former Whitesnake man’s guitars using a special ‘light painting’ technique. This produces intricate details and, according to publishers Rufus Publications, “unseen wonders” of vintage instruments. Each one is accompanied by stories, offered by the guitarist himself, about where he acquired it and when he played it.

Tales Of Tone And Volume is available in three editions:

The Standard Edition (£95 plus delivery) is an A4-sized coffee-table book in a cardboard slipcase that comes with a CD of original music recorded by Marsden especially for this project.

The Guitarist’s Edition (£350 plus delivery) ups the size to A3 and is quarterbound in leather with an embossed clamshell case. This is limited to 300 signed and numbered copies worldwide and ships with the CD, exclusive art prints and a piece of a 1950s Lifton guitar case from Bernie’s collection.

Finally, the mighty The Beast Edition (£495) is limited to 100 copies and quarterbound in leather with a luxurious wooden case embossed with The Beast logo. The Beast Edition also ships with the CD, framed art prints of The Beast and a real piece of 1950s Lifton case.
