Boss arms bassists with more tools in version 3 update for GT-1000
The new firmware also features new footswitch modes.

Boss has announced a free firmware update for its GT-1000 multi-effects processor. Version 3 bolsters the unit with bass-focused features, two new footswitch modes and more.
The highlight of these bass-centric features is the three AIRD bass preamps designed for core tone shaping. There are also eight bass OD/distortion effects, chorus, flanger, touch wah, a compressor powered by MDP tech and more.
Version 3 also features two new footswitch modes – Pedalboard and Manual – aimed at providing you with better control over the unit.
Pedalboard mode, a brand-new addition from Boss, offers you a conventional-looking stompbox layout that differs from the GT-1000’s normal patch structure. Manual mode, on the other hand, is a popular feature from previous-generation GT processors. It allows you to configure on/off control for amp/effect, accessible via footswitch.
Lastly, the update adds 13 new selections to the device’s AIRD Output Select Library, catering for optimised interfacing with a broader selection of amplification systems.
