Boss has launched the Waza Tube Amp Expander, a device that aims to enhance the tube amp experience by giving players more flexibility.

This is a gizmo that wears many hats: It’s a variable reactive load box, active analogue power stage, mic’ed cab simulator, IR loader and recording interface, all rolled into one road-ready enclosure.

One of the main highlights of the Tube Amp Expander is the reactive load section, which allows you to achieve cranked amp tones at any volume level. It also features resonance and presence controls that optimise impedance interaction with your amp’s output transformer. This allows you to select from 16 settings to make your amp behave as though it were hooked up to your favourite speaker cab. It supports any guitar amp up to 150 watts.

The Tube Amp Expander also has Waza-quality built-in effects – compressor, delay, reverb and four EQs – and an external effects loop. This will come in handy if you own a vintage tube amp with no effects loop of its own. The one onboard the Waza Tube Amp Expander provides selectable series or parallel operation, for both line-level units and standard pedals.

Arrives Spring 2019. More information at boss.info.
