Boss launches the new GT-1000CORE, RC-5 and RC-500

Boss has unveiled three new pedal units: The GT-1000CORE multi-effects unit, and the RC-5 and RC-500 loop stations.

GT-1000CORE

The GT-1000CORE is based on Boss’ flagship GT-1000 Guitar Effects Processor, and packs in the GT-1000’s same powerful effects processing tech into a more pedalboard-friendly enclosure.

Each patch you load can run 24 simultaneous effects, including two amps at once. The unit has 250 slots for user presets, too, so you can load up your GT-1000CORE with tones for any situation imaginable.

In terms of hardware, there are three onboard switches that can be configured for a variety of functions, and other stompboxes can easily integrate with the GT-1000CORE via mono or stereo I/O. Dual send/return jacks are also available for external effects, or separate feeds to a PA or recorder. Deeper control is possible with external footswitches and expression pedals, and you can remotely switch amp channels using the unit as well.

The GT-1000CORE also functions as a multi-channel USB audio/MIDI interface, able to be integrated into a DAW as well as being used for re-amping. Recording mode provides a variety of built-in speaker and microphone types to choose from, and it’s also possible to import 16 WAV-format speaker impulse responses with the GT-1000 IR Loader software. Further connectivity allows you to craft sounds on a Mac or Windows computer using the BOSS Tone Studio editor. MIDI I/O is provided by compact TRS jacks.

RC-5 & RC-500

The RC-5 (single-channel) and RC-500 (dual-channel) both offer 13 hours of stereo recording, as well as deeper control with external footswitches, expression pedals or MIDI. Each features 32-bit AD/DA and 32-bit floating-point processing, onboard rhythms, phrase memories for storing loops and backlit displays

The single-track RC-5 and dual-track RC-500 both offer 13 hours of stereo recording, plus advanced external control support via footswitches, an expression pedal, or MIDI.

The smaller RC-5 features full stereo I/O, along with a LCD screen – which has a colour-changing backlight, indicating recording, overdub, and playback states. All basic looping functions are accessed by the main switch of the pedal, but connect up to two external footswitch for deeper control of assignable functions. Or, use an expression pedal for continuous adjustments. The RC-5 also includes MIDI I/O on space-saving TRS jacks, if you want to integrate the pedal into a more complex setup.

The larger RC-500 features stereo instrument jacks, as well as a dedicated XLR input, complete with phantom power. The three built-in footswitches are configured for basic operations by default, but they can be reassigned in a variety of ways. The RC-500 also offers deep external control support, including MIDI I/O on TRS jacks.

Both new loop stations come loaded with 57 rhythms, each with A/B variations, allowing instant accompaniment. Drum kits can also be changed to suit the musical style, with 7 kits available in the RC-5 and 16 kits in the RC-500.

On top of this, the RC-500 comes with a variety of loop effects such as repeat, scatter, shift,, vinyl flick and more.Both the RC-5 and RC-500 also offer a reverse effect.
