Full-time guitar memester Chibson USA has done it again — this time, with the launch of some Cease & Desist toggle switch rings for you (and your axe) to join in the guitar world’s legal shenanigans.

“Show your friends and family that you are no longer ashamed of your less-than-authentic instrument!” the item’s listing description reads. “Feeling wild? Turn your vintage instrument into an illegal copycat with the all-new Chibson Cease and Desist toggle ring.”

Available at $11 each and in four colour options, the cheeky product appears to poke fun at the industry’s leading cease and desist expert aka Gibson, who’s found itself in various trademark legal battles over the years.

Back in the early 2000, Gibson and PRS were famously involved in a high-profile court battle over the Singlecut’s apparent similarities to the Les Paul, with the former issuing a cease and desist against PRS for its Singlecut model. A countersuit from PRS eventually followed and the injunction was dismissed, allowing the brand to continue producing its Singlecut today.

And more recently, Gibson has been embroiled in a legal tug-of-war with Dean over the production of guitars that were ruled to have infringed on the body shapes of the Flying V, Explorer and SG. Dean’s parent company Armadillo has since appealed against the trademark ruling.
