Cort’s Action HH4 and HH5 basses are steeped in sonic potential
Five-way switch provides you with multiple pickup settings.
Cort has expanded its Action range with the HH4 bass and its five-string variant, the HH5. Like their Action contemporaries, these affordable basses offer high-quality specs, including a versatile electronics setup primed for a multitude of tones.
The basses are each stocked with a pair of VTB-H humbuckers. These pups are formulated around Alnico V magnets, which contribute to enhanced musicality as well as more punch in the low-midrange and bass frequencies. The electronics department also features a five-way switch that lets you select between these options:
- Having only one of the humbuckers engaged
- Having both humbuckers engaged
- Two parallel modes
- Two inside coils engaged or,
- Two outside coils engaged
Complementing the pickup selector is a push-pull tone knob that selects between passive and active wiring modes. Rounding out the control section are a master volume knob as well as a two-band EQ.
Tonewood-wise, the new Action basses each feature a meranti body, a Canadian hard maple bolt-on neck along with a jatoba fingerboard. They also boast a contoured arm cut – near the top – that is intended to enhance playing comfort. Topping off the basses’ features are die-cast tuners, chrome hardware as well as EB6 bridges.
The Action HH4 bass retails at $499.99, while its five-string variant retails at $549.99. More info at cortguitars.com.
