Cort refreshes its G series with the G280 Select

Cort has introduced a new electric model into its G series, the G280 Select. It’s a reimagined follow-up to the G280DX, with a number of tweaks to the electronics and overall specifications.

In the bridge position is now a VTH-77 bridge humbucker, a “fatter and hotter-sounding” pickup, while in the middle and neck position are two VTS-63 single-coil pickups, offering “modern clarity in clean settings, punchy bite, and great sustain when engaged in overdrive and distortion settings.” These are controlled by a master volume and tone, and selected by a five-way switch.

Construction consists of an alder body and bolt-on solid Canadian hard maple neck, topped respectively with a flamed maple top and a rosewood fretboard. This fretboard sports 22 frets and a 12-16-inch radius, and the neck is carved with an Ergo-V shape for comfort.

Aesthetically, the flame maple top is visible through transparent black or amber finishes, and the hardware is finished in chrome. This hardware includes Cort’s own CTA-III vibrato, which floats in a recess to allow for pitch bends both upwards and downwards. There are also staggered locking tuners, for extra stability and quick string changes.

At the heel end of the neck, you’ll also find an easy-access truss rod adjustment wheel, accessible through a cutout in the pearloid pickguard – another addition over the G280DX.
