Boasting a supercharged OD circuit tuned to the Greek guitarist’s needs.
Crazy Tube Circuits has joined forces with Gus G on the Speed Demon, an OD pedal tailored to the heavy metal guitarist’s ferocious playing style.
At the stomper’s core is a “powerful” OD circuit that’s said to have enough juice for Gus’ shattering riffs and searing leads. This is complemented by a saturation circuit, which is designed to inject clarity, punch and rich harmonics into your OD tone. The saturation circuit also compresses certain frequencies to ensure your guitar cuts through the mix.
As for controls, you’ll find a familiar three-knob layout: gain, tone and volume. Gain can be set up as a clean boost to nudge a dull amp or a secondary gain stage for high-headroom soloing. Tone, on the other hand, is an active control that targets high frequencies. According to the brand, tweaking this control can take you from a smooth, warm tone to a more aggressive and crunchy sound.
