NAMM 2021: D’Angelico unveils three new electrics, the Deluxe Brighton, Premier Bedford SH and the Excel 59

NAMM 2021: D’Angelico has unveiled three new electric guitar models for its lineup this year – Deluxe Brighton, Premier Bedford SH and the Excel 59. The models cover the spectrum of solid-body, semi-hollow and fully hollow, respectively.

Deluxe Brighton

This compact, solid-body double-cut guitar comes with a familiar electronics layout, sporting a pair of Seymour Duncan Seth Lover humbuckers, each with its own volume and tone control and selected by a three-way switch. Construction consists of a swamp ash body with a flame maple top, as well as a set-through three-piece maple neck topped with a 22-fret 14-inch radius ebony fretboard with three-ply binding.

A chrome-finished stopbar tailpiece, tune-o-matic style bridge completes a 24.75-inch scale length for a familiar feel for fans of solid-body dual-humbucker guitars.

Premier Bedford SH

This design was previously only offered as a Deluxe Limited Edition model, but for 2021 is available as part of D’Angelico’s Premier Series. The semi-hollow guitar features an offset shape with a single F-hole, and is loaded with two Duncan Designed TE-103 single-coils and one Duncan Designed MH-102 mini humbucker. These are controlled with a single volume and tone, as well as a five-way blade switch.

Set into the fully mahogany body is a maple neck, topped with a 22-fret, 14-inch radius Ovangkol fretboard. A chrome six-point tremolo completes a 24.75-inch scale length.

Excel ‘59

Drawing inspiration from a design from company founder John D’Angelico, the Excel 59 is a new hollow-body electric guitar equipped with a duo of Seymour Duncan Great Dane P90 pickups.

Its hollow body is constructed with a laminated flame maple back and sides and a laminated spruce top, with five-ply binding and a 1.75-inch deep, 16-inch wide single cutaway design. It’s topped with a five-ply solid black scalini pickguard.

Set through the body is a three-piece maple neck, topped with a bound 16-inch radius ebony fretboard with 22 frets and split block mother of pearl and abalone inlays. Hardware consists of gold-finished D’Angelico Stairstep tailpiece and tune-o-matic style bridge.
