Dean Guitars has expanded its 2020 Select Series with a range of shred-focused, 24-fret models – the MD 24 Select.
Starting at the bridge, there’s a choice of a Cadi hardtail bridge and tailpiece for stable chugs or a Floyd Rose Tremolo system for a more lead-focused guitar. The guitar’s basswood body is loaded with two of the Dean-exclusive Seymour Duncan pickups: a zebra direct-mounted set of the APH-1N and TB-5/SH-5 humbuckers.
In terms of the neck, as the model name suggests, there are 24 frets on offer, loaded into a 12-inch radius. ebony fretboard. This sits atop a C-shaped three-piece maple neck, completing a 25.5-inch scale length for the guitar. The bolt-on neck is joined to the body with a deep bout, allowing easy access to all 24 of the Jumbo frets. Other appointments include black Grover tuners, matching black hardware, a bound headstock and pearloid dot inlays.
The MD 24 Select comes in the following bridge/finish/price combinations:
- MD 24 Select Flame Top Trans Cherry, with a Floyd Rose, listing for $849.
- MD 24 Select Classic White, with a Floyd Rose, listing for $799.
- MD 24 Select Flame Top Trans Cherry with a hardtail, listing for $699.
- MD 24 Select Classic White with a hardtail $649
