Death By Audio has announced Protection By Audio, an online pop-up shop that will donate its proceeds to the non-profit organisation Get Us PPE. The store launches 25 August at 11 AM EST on Reverb.com and will feature unique pieces of gear donated by a host of musical artists.

Listings are said to include “autographed gear, hand-drawn one-offs, and pieces of musical history” from artists the likes of IDLES, Wilco, the Flaming Lips, Queens of the Stone Age, Spoon, the Black Angels, Spacemen 3, Osees, A Place to Bury Strangers, Xiu Xiu, METZ, the Melvins, That Dog, the Voidz, Into It.Over It, This Will Destroy You, and more.

Along with this, the brand will also be listing some rare and “never-been-seen” prototypes for sale.

A press release teased several product listings ahead of the pop-up’s official launch. These include DBA owner Oliver Ackermann’s personal Fender Jaguar CIJ, played in A Place to Bury Strangers; a DBA Reverberation Machine with hand-drawn art from Nels Cline; a vintage Star Instruments Synare 4 and “I Like Psych” button from John Dwyer of OSees, and a Dr. No Octofuzz owned and signed by Troy Van Leeuwen of Queens of the Stone Age.

The idea for Protection By Audio came to Ackermann and Director Of Operations Heather Bickford while quarantined in their apartment after recovering from COVID-19.

“After hearing the struggles and traumas experienced by those working on the frontlines, we knew we had to do something to help,” said Bickford. “We brainstormed a bunch of ideas and then it dawned on us that we have a lot of friends in the music industry and that a lot of them would be down to help.”

Get Us PPE is a non-profit organisation founded by physicians and medical researchers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. It aims to provide healthcare workers, civilians and underserved communities with access to personal protective equipment.
