Dr Z amplification has announced a collaboration with Carol Ann Amps, entitled the CAZ-45.

The amplifier head is, as its name implies, rated at 45 watts, and professes to project anything from low-gain to “blistering” high gain. Alongside standard controls such as level, presence and a three-band EQ, three more knobs grant deeper control over the amp’s texture: Sensitivity, which adds tightness and low-end, thickening single-coils and tightening up high-output humbuckers, Gain, which sets the overall distortion amount and Aggression, which changes how the preamp runs into the power amp section.

This power section is based around 6L6 power tubes, and can be tamed all the way down to “whisper quiet” levels, while still retaining the same sustain and gain character as it has running at full blast. Conversely, Dr. Z also specifies that even when lots of gain is dialed in, you can bring your sound down to “crystalline” clean with the volume knob.

You can hear the amplifier in action in the demo below

The amplifier lists for $3348. Find out more about it over at drzamps.com.
