Dr. Z has unveiled the Jetta, its take on the small 30-watt tube combo.

The amp is driven by two 12AX7 preamp tubes and two 7591 power tubes. The Jetta’s compact construction snugly houses a 12” Celesion H30 speaker, the Jetta aims to recreate your guitar sounds with as little meddling as possible, with plenty of headroom to let your playing breathe.

On the face of it – literally – the amp is fairly simple. The panel features three control knobs, preamp volume, tone, and master volume.

The preamp volume knob, when turned past noon, can break the amp up into natural tube overdrive – but the headroom and neutral voice of this amp combine to make the Jetta a great platform for pedalboard-based drive tones. Other effects will be an easy combo with the front of the amp, but for added versatility, a Metro Zero-Loss FX Loop is integrated into the amp.

The Jetta is handwired in Cleveland, Ohio, and weighs 34lbs (15kgs).

The Jetta is available for $1399. More information at drzamps.com. Read our interview with Mike Zaite of Dr Z here.
