Epiphone‘s new Prophecy Collection has been officially released. The range comprises four modern takes on some classic Gibson guitar shapes.

We got a first look at these new instruments back in May 2020 when Gibson CMO Cesar Gueikian teased an image of the Flying V Prophecy and Prophecy Extura (a new Explorer variant). Completing the lineup are the Les Paul Prophecy and Prophecy SG.

The Prophecy Extura stands out in particular, as it actually introduces a new body shape forged out of the combination of a Gibson Explorer and Gibson Futura. The resulting Extura shape offers a narrower waist and a deeper cutaway for increased comfort and easier access to higher frets.

Apart from that, the Prophecy Collection instruments share much in common. They each sport a mahogany body with a flame maple veneer top; a SlimTaper neck; an ebony fingerboard with 24 jumbo frets; a duo of Fishman Fluence Prophecy humbuckers; an Epiphone LockTone bridge and tailpiece, and Grover locking tuners.

Taking advantage of the active Fishman Fluence humbuckers, each guitar also offers three distinct voicings – accessed via push-pull control pots – that include a warm PAF-type sound, a hot active humbucker sound and a shimmery overwound single-coil sound.

As for finishes, the series features a range of coloured aged gloss finishes to choose from including black, yellow, purple, red and blue. To round things off, each guitar also has matching inlays that pair to each coloured finish.

The Les Paul Prophecy, Prophecy SG, Flying V Prophecy and Prophecy Extura are priced at $899 each.
