Ernie Ball Music Man is releasing a new signature model for St. Vincent, dubbed Goldie, which will be out this June.
While the guitar’s body shape remains similar to St. Vincent’s other signature models with the brand, major additions include gold foil pickups, a vintage-flavoured parchment pickguard, brass saddles and a trio of new colour options: Cashmere, Velveteen and Silk Charmeuse.
The St. Vincent Goldie features a lightweight okoume body and a roasted figured maple neck with a reverse headstock. The Cashmere and Silk Charmeuse models have ebony fingerboards, while the Velveteen one comes with a rosewood fingerboard. All three have 22 high-profile stainless steel frets and custom inlays.
The three gold foil mini-humbuckers, which are in-house designs from Ernie Ball, route to a five-way switch for plenty of tonal variety. Positions one, three and five engage the bridge, middle and neck pickups independently, while positions two and four run, respectively, the bridge and neck in parallel with the middle pickup.
Like St. Vincent’s first signature model, this guitar has parchment control knobs and a three-ply parchment pickguard. The latter has been recut and relocated underneath the pickups for a traditional look. There are also Schaller locking tuners with pearl tuning keys, a St. Vincent Music Man tremolo with solid brass saddles and an adjustable truss rod.
St. Vincent debuted the instrument during her appearance on last week’s (3 April) episode of Saturday Night Live, where she performed two tracks from her forthcoming LP, Daddy’s Home, due out in May.
