NAMM 2020: After launching Phase I and Phase II of previews of its 2020 lineup, ESP has dropped the third and final phase of proceedings.

The phase sees the notable announcement of the ‘87 Range, a throwback-based run of guitars focused on ESP’s introductory models. The LTD Eclipse ‘87 sports a completely different silhouette to the Eclipse we know today – reminiscent of a slightly different single-cut staple.

It comes in a hardtail and tremolo version, and is loaded with Seymour Duncan ’59 (neck) and JB (bridge) humbuckers. The ESP M-1, Mirage Deluxe and a Surveyor Bass all also get ’87 versions, with a number of 80s shred appointments.

There’s also updates to Stephen Carpenter’s (Deftones), Javier Reyes (Animals As Leaders) and Alex Wade (Whitechapel). The below striking signature is a new introduction for Behemoth’s Nergal – complete with the band’s triple-inverted-cross Triumviratus symbol inlaid on the twelfth fret, as well as Fishman active humbuckers and a satin black finish.

The manufacturer also teased some more axes to be unveiled at the imminent NAMM 2020 show, saying that it will “likely have a few more new models that we’ll let you know about then.” ESP also highlight that full specs and details for every model will be revealed on 16 January, saying “By the start of the NAMM Show, we’ll have a complete update of the ESP site completed so that you can check out all the detailed specs and info on the dozens of “New for 2020” models we’ve shown you in these previews.”
