Fender has announced the American Ultra Luxe electric guitar series, described as an evolution of the Ultra series and the brand’s “most advanced series” yet.

The range introduces several new features to the Stratocaster and Telecaster, including an Augmented “D” neck profile and stainless-steel frets.

The Augmented “D” neck is an update to the Modern “D” profile that Fender claims feels fuller towards the 12th fret. The neck is completed with a smooth Ultra satin finish for increased playability.

Meanwhile, the stainless-steel frets are hardier than the brand’s usual nickel-silver ones, and are said to offer a “fluid, glassy playing feel” that should make bending silky smooth.

American Ultra Luxe Stratocaster

This high-performance Stratocaster pairs an ash body with a maple neck and compound-radius fretboard furnished with 22 medium-jumbo frets. It’s fitted with a trio of Ultra Noiseless Vintage pickups, routed to a five-position blade switch. For even more tonal variety, an S-1 switch lets you add the neck pickup to certain positions. Other hardware features include sealed locking tuners and a Tusq nut.

It comes in Plasma Red Burst and 2-colour Sunburst.

American Ultra Luxe Stratocaster Floyd Rose HSS

Loaded with two Ultra Noiseless Hot Strat single-coils and an Ultra Double Tap Humbucker, this Stratocaster offers a versatile array of sound options. Its build includes an alder body and maple neck. There’s also a Floyd Rose Original vibrato for dive bombs and expressive ‘cat purrs’.

It comes in either Silver Burst and Mystic Black with a rosewood fingerboard.

American Ultra Luxe Telecaster

This high-end take on the Telecaster is designed with a tapered neck heel and a sculpted rear body contour for increased playing comfort. It has an ash body and maple neck with 22 medium-jumbo frets. Pickups include a pair of Ultra Noiseless Vintage Tele single-coils, routed to a three-way selector and an S-1 switch, which activates series wiring in the middle position.

It comes in 2-colour Sunburst and Transparent Surf Green finishes.

American Ultra Luxe Telecaster Floyd Rose HH

Finally, there’s a two-humbucker Telecaster. The Ultra Luxe Tele Floyd Rose HH features a pair of Custom Double Tap pickups and a Floyd Rose Original vibrato system. This alder-bodied guitar has a maple neck and a rosewood fingerboard with 22 frets.

It comes in a Black finish.

Pricing and availability

The Ultra Luxe Telecaster and Stratocaster are priced at $/£2,239 each, while the HSS Stratocaster and HH Telecaster go for $/£2,339 apiece.
