Master Builder Ron Thorn of the Fender Custom Shop has crafted his take on the Fender Meteora, the head turning design that was first unveiled as part of the brand’s funky Parallel Universe in 2018.

Ron Thorn’s one-off guitar marks the Fender Custom Shop’s first ever Meteora build. It sports an ash body, a ‘60s C shape quarter sawn maple neck and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearloid block fret inlays. This Meteora comes in a classic looking White Blonde nitro-cellulose finish with Closet Classic aging.

Notably, this iteration of the Meteora adopts neither the Tele single-coil combo of the Parallel Universe series, nor the humbucker duo of its Alternate Reality series counterpart, but instead a set of TV Jones Filter’Tron pickups. Specifically, these are a TV Jones Classic in the neck position and a Classic Plus in the bridge position. As for controls, there’s a master volume knob, a tone knob and a three-way pickup selector.

Unlike either of its predecessors too, Ron Thorn’s Meteora appears to adopt a hardtail bridge in lieu of the Parallel Universe model’s tele style bridge, and the Alternate Reality’s adjust-o-matic.

This one-of-a-kind Meteora is up for grabs at $10,999 through Lauzon Music of Ottawa, Ontario.
