Fender has unveiled the made-in-Mexico Noventa series, which comprises three modern electrics fitted with the brand’s own MP-90 pickups.

The pickups promise to deliver “an edgier, unfiltered sound” that stays articulate while also providing bite. If the pickups look familiar, that’s probably because you’ve seen them on the Player Mustang 90. The Noventa series launches with three models: a Stratocaster, Jazzmaster and Telecaster.

The Noventa Stratocaster features two MP-90 pickups, in the neck and bridge position, along with a simplified control section with a master tone and master volume knob. It’s an alder-bodied guitar with a maple neck and 21 medium jumbo frets, plus a synthetic bone nut.

You can find it in three finishes, Crimson Red Transparent, Daphne Blue and Surf Green. The latter two models have maple fretboards, while the first has a pau ferro one.

The Noventa Jazzmaster is equipped with a trio of MP-90s that route to a five-way blade selector, as well as master tone and volume controls. This model has an Adjust-o-Matic bridge with a vintage-style “floating” vibrato tailpiece.

The guitar has an alder body finished in gloss polyester and comes in three colour options: the Fiesta Red and Surf Green models are paired with maple fretboards, while the Walnut one comes with a pau ferro fingerboard.

Finally, there’s the single-pickup Noventa Telecaster, which offers a single MP-90 in the bridge position. This model features a 60s-style maple neck and a modified “cut” bridge with three brass barrel saddles.

It’s also an alder-bodied instrument that comes in three finishes. The Fiesta Red and Vintage Blonde have maple fingerboards, while the Two-colour Sunburst model has a Pau Ferro one.
