Squier rolls out Fender Special Run Mustang, Strat and Telecaster guitars

Squier has rolled out a fresh trio of Fender Special Run (FSR) guitars that put modern twists on the Mustang, Stratocaster and Telecaster models.

Bullet Competition Mustang

This short-scale electric is a callback to vintage Mustang models decorated with racing stripes. The poplar-bodied guitar features a C-shaped maple neck, Indian laurel fingerboard and two humbuckers. It comes in two finishes: Daphne Blue and Black, with orange and gold stripes, respectively.

HSS Stratocaster

This poplar-bodied Stratocasters comes with three pickups that offer a wider spread of tonal variety. There’s a humbucker in the bridge, as well as Strat single-coils in the middle and neck position. It features a C-shaped maple neck with Indian laurel fingerboard and medium-jumbo frets. It comes in two finishes: Two-tone Sunburst with black hardware and Seafoam Green with white hardware.

Classic Vibe 60s Custom Telecaster

The last of the new Squier FSR models is a vintage-style Telecaster that features a bolt-on construction. The Classic Vibe 60s Custom Telecaster features a nato wood body, maple neck and Indian laurel fingerboard, as well as a genuine bone nut. For pickups, there’s a pair of Fender-designed alnico single-coils for classic Tele tones. The guitar comes in two eye-catching finishes: Candy Tangerine and Candy Apple Green.

Pricing and availability

Fender has yet to list the instruments onto the Squier website, but several online dealers (including Andertons) already have listings up for the instruments.

The Competition Mustang lists for £149, the HSS Strat in Seafoam Green and Two-tone Sunburst go for £129 and £139, respectively, and the Classic Vibe 60s Custom Telecaster is priced at £379.
