Gibson has launched an official Reverb store to list collectable, one-off instruments.

The Gibson Demo Shop’s first run of 40 instruments was listed on the online marketplace yesterday (24 November). It comprises a range of original prototype guitars. Each instrument, being second-hand, is put through a “35-point” inspection routine and comes with a two-year warranty “centred on playability”, according to Gibson.

The more affordable of the listings were four Gibson SG Junior prototypes, priced at $1,399 each. At the higher end were a handful of Les Paul Standard prototypes offered at $2,499 each.

Gibson has also said that, in time, other one-of-a-kind instruments will be listed on the digital storefront.

“We are excited to launch the Gibson Demo Shop in partnership with Reverb; the established online marketplace for guitars and beyond,” said Gibson CMO Cesar Gueikian. “We are making unique prototypes, demo and modified guitars, as well as guitars played by our artists that fans will love, available on the Demo Shop.”

Jim Tuerk, Director Of Business Development at Reverb added: “Gibson is giving players an incredible opportunity to own some truly unique guitars – many that weren’t previously available for purchase – and I couldn’t be more excited that Reverb’s global community of music makers will have access to this gear.”

In other Reverb news, the online marketplace announced yesterday (24 November) the launch of the One Mic Reverb Store, which lists microphones signed and donated by some of the biggest names in music.

The store will launch on 1 December to benefit youth music education programs amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
