Guild has launched a new version of its Starfire bass guitar, the Starfire I.

The guitar is, to quote Guild, “a modern adaptation of the traditional Starfire Bass platform, exemplifying the features needed on a modern Hollowbody bass.”

These include a smaller, 2.4-inch thick body for comfier playability, a short 30.75-inch scale-length, and an inward-shifted set neck. A tune-o-matic-style bridge leads into a harp-style tailpiece.

In terms of electronics, there are a pair of Guild’s BC-1 BiCoil pickups in the middle position, fitted with nickel covers and Alnico 5 magnets. These are controlled by a master volume and tone, as well as a “vintage switch,” engaging a more mid-focused, vocal and classic hollowbody bass tone.

The construction depends on your choice of finish – a maple top, back, and sides are available in Vintage Walnut, and a Mahogany top, back, and sides in cherry red.

Lists for $599. Find out more at guildguitars.com.
